So I know its been a hot minute since I posted a review but ya boy's been busy spreading the word about the site. Its hard work promoting the hottest social network on the web. This week has been different, my little brother's in town with me seeing the sights and hittin' the clubs out here in Cali so when I got an invite from my boy MrMogul to hit up The Franchise Presents Black and White Masquerade at the Jade Theater, I was down.
So the Jade Theater is a little spot on the corner of 7th and C in downtown San Diego just outside the normal strip of clubs that make up the Gaslamp. Its decent size and asian themed atmosphere where what immediately set it apart from the pact. Newcomers may be set off by the fact that is is somewhat difficult to find the dance floor right away. Once you do though, you'll notice the great seating space, the extended bar (with enough bartenders to man it) and the paper lantern lighting.
The Franchise provided masks for several guests including burlesque dancers for each of the three private seating areas. The music was a combination of old school hits (Outkast - Rosa Parks) to current East and West Coast (Jay-Z - Hova) hits with a little South Side (TI-Bring 'Em Out) thrown in here in there.
While my brother complained of the drinks being weak, they still had a good taste. So I'll leave that one up to opinion but all in all the club was a great location with enjoyable music and a friendly crowd. Of course you had the occasional shoving here and there as the drunk girls wobbled their way through the crowd but nothing too out of hand.
I definitely recommend the next Franchise Presents event to anyone looking for a good time as well as the Jade Theater for people looking for that perfect mix of relaxing atmosphere and hard hitting music.
